Great Tree Canopy Comeback - Fort Wayne and Allen County

On November 6, 2010 the Allen County Parks Department, Friends of the Parks, New Haven/Adams Township Parks and Recreation and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department  will once again partner together for the "Great Tree Canopy Comeback."

The goal is to purchase and plant more than 200 new trees in our parks and streets.

The emerald ash borer has had devastating effects and many trees must be replanted.  This year, the focus will be on these area parks:

Buckner Park, Foster Park, McMillen Golf Course,
Havenhurst Park, and Fox Island County Park

The organizers of this project are in need of volunteers on November 6 at 10:00 a.m.  The meeting will begin at the Nature Center with donuts, milk, juice, and fruit -- then training from Tree Captains before heading down to the planting sites.

Use your creative gardening skills to help restore our urban landscape!  For more information on how to participate, go to allencountyparks.org.
